Before you start
Two minutes of prep saves you a trip back under the dash.
Check the box
Your AIRPASS, the Y-cable adapter, and zip ties. That is everything the install needs — no tools.
Know your port
AIRPASS works with a 16-pin OBD-II or a 9-pin J1939 port. Not sure which you have? Text us a photo of the port and we will tell you.
Photograph the serial number
It is on the back of the device and starts with SN. Take the photo now, before it goes under the dash — you will need it in the app.
Install
Get it connected
Three steps, about five minutes.

Locate the port, ignition off
Find your vehicle’s DLC port — usually under the dashboard, to the left of the steering wheel. Make sure the engine is completely off before you connect anything.

Connect the AIRPASS
Plug it into your 16-pin OBD-II or 9-pin J1939 port, using the included Y-cable adapter. It seats firmly — you will feel it click.

Secure the setup
Mount the device clear of the pedals and anything that moves. Zip-tie the cables up under the dash. There is no right way up — “this side up” does not apply here.
What the lights mean
The AIRPASS tells you exactly where it is in the process.

Flashing green — Searching for signal
Solid orange — GPS signal locked
Flashing blue — Seeking connection
After you start the engine
Fast flashing green — Engine activity detected
Solid green — Connection confirmed
Solid blue — Connected

Create your account
The app uses a new account. Your airlimits.com login will not work here. On the first screen tap Login at the bottom, then tap Sign up where it says “Need an account?”

Add your device
Scan the serial number or type it in — that photo you took. Then enter your VIN, plate number, and state of registration.
Already installed and can’t find your serial number? Don’t go looking for it. Call or text 1-800-788-5241 and we will add your devices for you.

Your AIRPASS is connected and reporting through AIRLINK. From here, testing happens from your phone.
Requesting a test
Request a test in the app and keep driving. Most trucks report back within about 30 minutes of driving or idling. Some take longer while the truck gathers the data — up to about 48 hours. You will get an email the moment the result is in. There is nothing to sit and watch.
Your certificates
Certificates still come from the CARB Clean Truck Check website, exactly as they always have. AIRLINK controls the testing — it does not replace CARB.
